I know reviews are supposed to be unbiased pieces of information to help you make a buying decision but I’m gonna tell you right off the bat that I have a total ‘Builder-Bias’. I mean I use it on almost all my websites and I promote it in my WordPress websites training program. It’s hard for me to pretend that I’m impartial to the decision you make when really I think you’d be a pretty smart cookie to buy it up and us it!
That’s doesn’t mean the information I’m about to give you won’t help YOU make your own decisions about whether this premium WordPress theme from the iThemes team is for you. I also think it shouldn’t stop me from writing a review to tell you what I think of it so here it goes.

This theme is great for just about any website because it is so flexible. Some of the most common businesses I’ve seen use the theme are:

What Can iThemes Builder Do?
I know it’s a cliche but you should probably ask me what it CAN’T do. Builder is so flexible it’s like having the ability to create your theme from scratch, without actually having to know code. Now no theme is perfect so yes, you’ll come upon snags and some issues but overall it’s one of the most flexible themes I’ve EVER found.
Here are just a few of the ways you can use iThemes Builder:
- Create completely different looks on different pages with the ‘layouts’ feature – You can change your sidebars, headers, footers, navigation and any possible section of your site by setting a different layout to the pages you want to be different. This compeltely frees you from the restricting use of many themes that have you stick with one layout throughout the entire site.
- Create dozens of customized sites in a click – The full version of Builder ($197) contains over 40 child themes that are pretty-much a ‘plug and go’ look for your website. The beauty of this is you have one theme if you run multiple sites you don’t need to get familiar with a bunch of themes and how they all work (every theme works differently).
- Make custom changes you can’t do without coding experience – Unless you’re really bold most people can’t make changes to the navigation, background images, font effects, etc. without getting dirty with code. Builder allows you to make a whole lot of customization changes from their ‘style manager’ plugin. It’s very easy to use and comes with a great preview area so you can see what happens when you change something.
Learning How to Use Builder
Expect that you’ll have a small (or possibly big depending on your ability to pick up new programs) learning curve with Builder, as with any new software you use. Obviously you’ll have to decide how best to proceed with using it because you are a unique individual with unique needs

As I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, Builder is not free. It’s called a premium theme. That means that the guys who built it are around for support through their customer forum and updates as the needs of WordPress users change.
