What is Your Strength in Business?
If you’re trying to make money on the internet there’s no doubt that you’ve been inundated with emails, websites and information on all the latest and greatest marketing methods you MUST do in order to make your fortune online.
I’ve recently come to realize it’s not the how that matters at all.
That’s right, I said the marketing doesn’t matter.
There are probably a million ways to ‘market’ your business. What you need is something that fits just perfect, that you can commit to and that you will be consistently motivated to continue with.
If you’ve tried every trick in the book to get more visitors to your website or make more sales and nothing seems to work, it’s time to really get to know YOURSELF and understand your strengths.
How do you find your strength? Here are some ideas:
What Do People Tell You You’re Good at?
Yes, you’ve heard this before and sometimes this question is just annoying. What if no one tells you you’re good at something – does that mean you’re good at nothing?? Not at all! It just means you’ve got to start doing more and different things, until people start to RAVE about what you’ve done for them.
In my recent webinars and group coaching program, I’ve been getting undeniable feedback from participants that they really enjoy what I do. That gives me great satisfaction in doing it more and it also gives me a high motivation to continue to impress them. This tells me I have a strength here that I wouldn’t have even known had I not just jumped out there and started doing something that was a little uncomfortable at first – coaching and speaking.
What Do People Ask You For Help With?
As a virtual assistant, I was finding that almost all of my clients were coming to me for advice on their marketing. While I certainly don’t have any problems offering advice to my clients, coaching really isn’t part of the VA (virtual assistant) description and so I decided I needed to put a focus on the part of the service that people were always asking for. By doing that I’ve found a real skill for helping people in a way that goes beyond just doing the work for them.
Do You Struggle to Get Your Work Done?
If you are currently really struggling to do what you want to do in your business, you probably haven’t found your true strength and it’s time to take the advice in this article and start searching for it.
Is it hard to get up in the morning and start your day? Do you jump from project to project, not really getting anything done? These are signs that you’re forcing yourself to do something and that’s NOT why we became business owners.
Is It EASY For You?
On the other hand, if you jump out of bed in the morning, ready to face a new day and the day just zooms by so easily – you know you’ve found your strength. If the work feels easy and not like work you know you’re on to something.
Don’t Stop Searching
While it’s true it may take a while to find your strength (ok, it took me years), don’t give up searching! The key to a successful business is persistence and determination. Once you find your real strength, combined with those two factors, nothing will be able to stop you from achieving your goals!
Your Homework:
1. Write down everything you do for your business right now, your jobs.
2. Go through your list and cross off everything that you have a hard time getting to, that you procrastinate when you need to do and that you just plain don’t enjoy.
3. Go through your list and circle what you do that people tell you you’re good at, that you love to do and that you can do with ease – these are your strengths!
4. Outsource those things you crossed off.
5. Find greater ways to do the things you love, your strengths.
