Are You Working With Too Many Variables?
One of the things that frustrates me the most when working with clients is doing too many things at once so we can’t see or track results. When I have a client come to me without any idea of how what they are outsourcing is going to make them money then I know it’s time to take a step back to check what we are working with.
As an internet marketer and a service provider I want to see results – and I know my clients do too.
So why do we (myself included here) work on so many projects with so many variables that you’d have to be Einstein to track it all at once? Why are we always working with too many variables?
I want you to do a little exercise with me:
Write down every single thing you are doing in your business right now and WHY you are doing it. Don’t think too hard on this, just start writing.
Then, when you’re done, look at your list and make a new list – this time listing all the RESULTS you expect from each thing you do.
Then, ask yourself some questions:
1. Do all the expected results match up, are they the same?
2. Am I working on tasks with NO expected results? (doesn’t that seem silly?)
3. What can I cut out RIGHT NOW to help me focus on ONE single result before moving on to another?
4. Can I boil this all down to one single results-driven focus?
5. Which of these results will make me the most money?
Recently I did this in my own business and I cut out a LOT of STUFF I just didn’t need to be doing. I also took a really critical look at what I was spending to run my business and managed to cut almost 90% of my expenses!!
It’s a matter of mindset. We start thinking we need to be doing things or spending money on expenses that really are not necessary. I really encourage you to constant challenge yourself to evaluate what you are doing, cut out the time wasters and distractions and get down to tracking your results to increase your profits.

This is so true. I find myself flitting from one task to another, and at the end of the day I feel like I haven’t really accomplished anything. I really need a system where I can prioritize my tasks and concentrate on the most important–and let’s face it, the money making–projects and just let the rest go.
Yes Cindy and I find for me it’s a constant ongoing task and even a mindset. I’m constantly asking myself what can I REMOVE from my business so that it runs better, is the most cost effective and profitable it can be.
It’s funny how easily we add new things to our business that just bog us down but sometimes have a hard time removing anything. I’m committed to having a fine-oiled machine and I know that’s going to take constant cleaning up!
