Read My Blog!
Ever feel frustrated that people don’t seem to be showing up to swarming to your blog? Wonder why they’re not?
I’ve been blogging for about five years now and I’ve learned a few things about how to get people to read your blog.
Check Your Keywords
ya, ya, I know you’ve heard me say this before but I’m gonna say it again. Keywords work. Keywords are what REAL people type into REAL computers to find your website. Use ‘em ok?
Please don’t think I’m being patronizing here because I’m not! I ignored keywords in my own business for a long time but I think it’s really an important part of your business if you want to build something that continues to work for you even when you’re not there – targeted keywords can do that.
Know Your Readers
Sometimes we get into the mindset that whatever we want to write about is what we want to blog about. But that’s not always the case. Get to know your readers, understand their problems and find out their questions and then start giving them the answers.
Be Approachable
People want to know you are a real person and not someone spewing out content to get them to buy. I do things like add videos posts to my blog, put my email in a handy spot, and I even recently added a nifty little chat box on the right side of the blog. So chat at me right now and let me know what you think of this post if it says I’m online
Be Human
We all make mistakes and nobody wants to read a bragger blog for any sustained period of time. Be human.
If you make mistakes, admit them and tell people what you learned from. I always say I love to learn the hard way, and boy when I mess up I like to make it big. Sometimes I don’t even learn from those big mistakes so I have to do them a few more times, haha. But I’m pretty good at letting my readers know what I’ve messed up and what I think I’ve learned from it.
I like Carrie Wilkerson’s little quote about this: “Turn a mess into a message”
Bring Value
You know value. I know value. Let’s just bring it.
Know Your Purpose
WHY are you blogging, really? Is it just for money? Is it to share a goal? Is it to share as much info as you can?
Me, I love to be wordy. I have a problem not keeping myself quiet if there’s a topic I love to talk about. You may have noticed this blog has gotten really ‘chatty’ lately. It’s because I really know and understand my purpose now, my reason for speaking to you through this platform.
Want to know what it is?
Ok
My purpose is to grow and create a business for myself that allows me to take one full month off next summer, to travel to China to visit my parents (while making money all the while), to have real freedom and choice in what I do every single day.
Sounds like my blog is all about me, huh? Well it is in many ways but it’s also about me sharing that will you. I’m on this journey, I’m not fully ‘free’ yet. As I learn how to do that with my own business I share it with you so we can both achieve what I KNOW you want to even if you don’t know it yet.
As human beings all we really want is to enjoy life and live with purpose. I really believe that and I really believe it’s possible.
I see close friends doing it daily and they continue to inspire and enlighten me!
So, that brings me to the last bloggy reading point:
Speak From The Heart
People know fakeness. They can smell it even over the internet. You won’t do yourself any good to be fake. You and I both know that. But let’s go even further and speak from the heart. Speak from your feelings. Write and feel what you really feel.
People will dive into that and love it, they’ll come back and read your blog and be anticipating your next post.
So there you have a few good tips to get people reading your blog more often and coming back for more. Let me know if you have any other ideas to add to this post, I’d love to hear what’s worked for you!

p.s. If you don’t have a blog yet, you can check out my free ecourse called “How to Create a Wordpress Website in 7 Days or Less” – it will give you the info you need to get a blog up and running on Wordpress (the BEST blogging software).

Heya! You've landed on the internet business blog of Angela Wills. I blog about solopreneur-ism, small business, affiliate marketing and more!

After I wrote this I headed over to my friend Nell’s blog and she has the same topic. It was just scary, kinda like she read my mind – or I guess like I read her’s, lol.
Anyway, check it out for more great tips:
