How I Made Money… Blogging

In September I did my first post in a series called ‘How I Made Money‘. I thought it would be helpful to explain to people who ask what I do to explain specific actions I’ve taken over the years to make money online.

Today’s topic is How I Made Money….Blogging.

Blogging is one of my favorite ways to make money online. It’s taken some playing around with blogging and a number of different sites to find my ‘blogging voice’ and to feel really comfortable with how I blog. Even then sometimes I feel like I don’t know what to blog about.

But let’s get right to it with how I made money blogging.

Blogging is just another way to get your message out to the masses. It’s a way to target a specific group of readers and to build a relationship with them.

Of course this blog right here is an example of that.

You’re here because you want to run a business you love, you want to make money online and you don’t want to be a slave to your business. I’m here to tell you the little tricks, tips and ideas I’ve learned over the years to get closer to running the most amazing business in the world – the one that fits me just perfectly.

So how do I make money doing that?

I make offers.

Yes I give away a lot of free information. But information doesn’t always make you money. Action does. So there are a just a couple of easy action steps I ask my readers to take so they can make more money and I can make some money as well:

Action #1 – Subscribe

I often invite my readers to subscribe to my email list or sign up for my mini-courses through my blog. From their they are lead through a series of emails to help their business. In the case of a mini-course we might focus on how to Create a WordPress Website (or Blog) in 7 Days or Less. That course points to products, services and affiliate offers that may help my readers and in turn make me money.

Action #2 – Check It Out

I may do a product review through my blog or I may link through to various products as I mention them in an article. By doing this I am inviting my readers to check out the product or service. If they click through and buy an affiliate product I make money, if they hire a service I offer then of course I also make money.

The only way to get good at blogging is to do it. You can study all the ebooks, resources and blogs that you like but until you start writing you won’t get ahead. Who cares if everything you do is perfect? That’s not the point! Just get moving and start figuring out what works.

Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t continue learning and studying those who have been successful at blogging. You certainly should but don’t get stuck in ‘learning’ mode. Learn and take action. MOVE!
