I am a WAHM – Work at Home Mom

AffiliateIncubator 123I think I’ve made a big mistake in the way I’ve blogged and marketed my business in the last few years.

You see, in an effort to keep up ‘professional’ appearances I haven’t talked much about being a WAHM.

WAHM being Work at Home Mom.

In some ways I was hiding it. Not really in shame but because I wanted to attract the kind of market that doesn’t talk about how to work around the kids or how amazing it is to be able to pick up and go on a field trip anytime your little guy has one. In past years I was blogging to get clients and I felt that field trips and volunteering at the school just weren’t appropriate to blog about.

Yep, I see now it was a big mistake not to get more used to sharing who I really am though and I’m a proud momma.

What I’m more passionate about in my business than anything else is freedom. A huge part of that freedom is the time I have available to be with my son, the freedom I have to never ask a boss ‘can I‘ and the example I’m setting to my son by really living my dream.

I mean how can you ever get to know me if I don’t share what takes up about 95% of my heart – my love of being a mom and having the time to be a great one.

By keeping this from you I think I’ve really put up a wall between myself and the people I REALLY can relate to – other work at home moms like me. Time to tear that wall down, let you really get to know me and I hope I will hear from you more often too!

Lightbulb moment!

So while I never plan on being a ‘mommy blogger’ and blogging all about my son, I certainly won’t ever again hide the fact that I AM a Work at Home Mom and I plan on keeping it that way.

What else didn’t I mention?

Well, I thought that in order to be professional I need to have some dedicated room in my home that is an actual ‘office’. I don’t so I failed to mention that to you. But guess what? I don’t want to work in a little room. My ‘office’ is in the corner of my living room because that’s where it works. Does it mean I’m any less serious about my business? Not at all! So what if I’m not at the point where I have (or even want) a room to go into, I’m doing what works for me.

Meaning, I’m not looking to build a business that grows so big I need an office. I’m quite content with having a home office (my living room) and a laptop – and that’s all I need to make a good living! That’s a beautiful thing isn’t it?
