Dropping The Work at Home Weight – Ya With Me?
The other day I was reading one of my favorite work at home blogs by Nicole Dean and noticed her post called: You Are Invited to Get Healthy With Me.
And Nicole had a plan.
She invited her blog readers to join her in the Fat Loss Quickie Experience and I jumped at the invitation! Nicole is one of my favorite-ist work at home peeps and I’m really excited to be joining her in getting rid of this excess weight, or ‘computer butt’ as Nik calls it (and I mentioned in this post a little while ago).
So now I’m going to update my blog here with my progress in this program.
Here’s my first video post – Would you believe it’s actually stretched?? I’m really not quite that big, lol, but I recorded sideways and flipped it which made everything wider than it is I swear!
Anyway, I’ve gained almost fifty pounds since starting to work at home full time and I’m not happy about it!
So, I’m making a commitment right here and right now to get in shape and I want to know if you want to join me?
Here’s what to do if you’re as stoked about this as I am:
1. I hope you’ll sign up for the Fat Loss Quickie program here (one payment of $20) and work along with me.
2. Post updates on your own blog, post videos or whatever way you want to hold yourself accountable!
3. Comment here and let me know you’re in.
You’ll be in great company if you join me, just have a look at all the people commenting over on Nicole’s blog.

I just want to say that I have seen Angela in the past week and she is definitely that big! Flipping that video camera added a ton of weight! I am doing the Fat Loss Quickie Challenge too … I want to lose about 45 lbs. Will post about it on my blog soon. We can do this Angela!!!

Christie´s last blog ..Work From Home Mom News and Hacks – August 28, 2009
haha Christie I think you meant to say ‘She is definitely NOT that big!’
Awesome to have you doing it too! We can even give each other phone check in’s too since we’re so close
And yes you can do it! We can do it!
Angela, your so funny.
I can cheer you along, but I would recommend you start with at least 5 pound weights. I use to be a personal trainer so watching this is so cool.
You can do it!!!!
But remember, its about a lifestyle change in order to keep it off for the long haul.
If you ever have any questions I am here.
Would love to help you.

Hey Elizabeth – sorry your comment got caught in the Spam files.
Wow I didn’t know you used to be a personal trainer. And you look awesome too!
Alrighty on the weights – guess I gotta invest more and get some good ones.
Thanks so, so much! I’m feeling so much love with all these comments and I hope to inspire some other peeps too.
Ironically, Rosalind Gardner of NetProfitsToday.com recently wrote a post entitled, “When It’s GOOD to Be A Thin Affiliate.” She asked her readers for ideas on how to stay trim as an affiliate marketer.
My comment was to follow the old college rule, for every hour of work take a ten-minute break, and use the break to exercise.
Anyway, yes, you can do it Angela (and Christie)! Looking forward to hearing about your progress.
@Emily – Great advice Emily! You know I read her post too and I’ve been thinking for a long time that I really need to get in shape but now I need to start doing.
Thanks so much for following along and I can’t wait to report when I fit back into my awesome leather jacket
Do you know about Green Smoothies? They are a huge help for SAHM and WAHMs. Healthiest, easiest food there is. Get your veggies and your fruits in a smootie — whrrrrrr goes the blender, grab s straw and you can sip away on uber healthyness while sitting at the computer typing. Check out http://www.greensmoothiegirl.com — she has a uncook book section and one of them = get 250 green smoothie recipies in one place. (Sometimes you want more than strawberries and spinach or green lemonade, my two defaults). Green smoothies changed my world — more energy, better skin, more alert, inches gone and waaaay better tasting than the hotpoketz and other food that cause the hippyhippyshake. I applaud you and Nicole! I hope Green Smoothies are part of your challenge!
definitely checkin out the green smoothies Bee!
You are a brave woman! Admitting that you’ve gained weight is hard and putting it on your blog for others to see is even harder! I wish I had the nerve to do this….. You know what? Maybe I do have the nerve! I tell you what: You keep blogging about this and I will do it, too. Even though the thought freaks me out a bit. But if you can do it, I can do it!
Crissy you can do it too!
You betcha I’ll keep blogging on it. I had no idea I’d get such an awesome reaction from people, guess that just means it really strikes a chord.
I’ll even post an update today on Day 1 & Day 2. The hardest part for me will be the food I think, I even cheated already (grrr) but I’ll keep it really real and go from there. Scott can come kick my butt.
Oh and do you ladies know about the Rebounder? Its great too! It moves lymph like nothing else! Its a mini trampoline. SO even when the weather is nasty and you don’t feel up for a walk around the block, you can easily grab 10 minutes of joyfFULL bouncing to get your heart rate up, keep your metabolism up. Its too fun to feel like work, but the results even surprised me. And if you have kids, they’ll appreciate it too. And if you want to get adventurous you can do crunches while sitting in the middle of it or do inclune pushups and mountain climbers while holding on to the edge. Hooray for Rebounders! Hooray for Green Smoothies! Hooray for Nicole and Angela leading us to great things!! Thanks ladies!
Two awesome tips Bee – thanks so much!
I ALMOST bought a rebounder the same day I bought the other equipment but it was Sunday, about 5:45pm and the stores closed at 6pm so I really just ran out of time.
Definitely will be getting one soon, they do look like so much fun.
I’ve thought about the green drinks before but honestly they look so gross! Do they taste terrible?
You did inspire me to make a smoothie today though. I used frozen berries (raspberry, black & blue), milk, orange juice and vanilla and it was really good. Not sure how low fat though.
You ROCK Angela!
It’s great to see you putting it all out there and publicly declaring your goals. I absolutely love your goal of fitting into your leather jacket. I find that goals of fitting into certain articles of clothing is a great motivator and I totally can’t wait to see you celebrate your success of achieving this goal.
I recommend that you keep your leather jacket out in a visible place to serve as a reminder of what you are aiming for. Attach the feelings of how great it will be to wear it. Picture yourself going on a date with your boyfriend and wearing the jacket.
I’m so incredibly impressed with how you have taken immediate action once you made your decision to improve your fitness, business, and life.
Keep up the great work!
Scott Tousignant
PS Yes I believe that you’re not actually that big
Even the stability ball was stretched out and no longer round

Scott Tousignant – Fat Loss Quickie´s last blog ..30 Day Home Office Fitness Challenge: Day 19 The Benefits
Ya figures I do a video that stretches my gut out, lol! Well just think if I do one today and say I used your program I’ll look like I’m ten pounds lighter in one day thanks to you!
Oh well, guess I still need to learn how to use my video camera
The goal just came to me yesterday. I actually have had a goal for about a year now to fit back into a pair of jeans and shirt I loved but I didn’t act on it. I think the emotional attachment to this jacket makes the goal more motivating. I’ve got it hung up right outside my closet in my bedroom so I’ll see it everyday before I get dressed.
Thanks for creating such a motivating program! I’m not usually one to jump on ANY type of diets, fitness or exercise programs because I’ve lost over 30lbs on my own over three times now and I know I can do it – but having someone show me exercises that will help tone my body and someone to just motivate daily who seems really real is really cool!
Great challenge Angela! I’m also trying to lose weight (seems like I’m always trying) so maybe I’ll jump on the bandwagon with you.
jump! Jump! JUMP!
I’ve met Angela in person and she is NOT as big as the flipped cam shows her. It’s awesome that you are taking this step Angela. I’ve thought about it after I saw it on Nicole’s blog but I watched some of his videos on exercise we can do at home and there is NO possible way I can do the things he was showing (at least in the video I watched). So if the program is about following the exercises he provides then it seems pointless to join because I can’t do them. But maybe the program is more than just exercises…guess I should read more about it. lol
Hey Tishia,
I’ve only done one cardio video so far so I’ll report back after I’ve seen the second one later on today but I agree some of the stuff I can’t do either. Like in the cardio yesterday there were ‘burpees’ (not sure how that’s spelled!) and they are crazy – I couldn’t do them. I did try though and when I just got too tired to do them I just did some running in spot.
The workout is intense. The first cardio was a LOT but I love how it’s really pushing. I don’t care if I can’t do it all, I’m going to try and do whatever I can now and I know that once I do that I’ll get further along to being able to do it all.
Anyway, Like I said I’ll report back again but I still would love to have you follow along with whatever you can – go for walks, eating right and let’s support each other no matter if you join the program! I’m so pumped with all this blog love!
WOW! You guys are so awesome! I’m going to reply to each of the comments above but first I got to do my morning workout
Dear Angela –
I applaud your commitment and your challenge. I made that commitment to myself, again about 2 months ago. I had lost 25 pounds, but then put 10 back on when I had some challenging things come up with my business.
But I’m back on my health program and have turned the tide from adding to subtracting and I feel great.
Let me give you a few things that have worked for me and continue to work for me.
It is critically important that you make any goal a POSITIVELY focused goal. It’s not about losing weight. It’s about creating a healthy, energized and sexy body (or whatever it is you want to create). There are two reasons this is so important.
First, whatever you focus on expands – so if you’re focused on your weight guess what happens – yes, it expands.
Second, you want to have a toward focused motivation. In other wods, you want to be motivated by what you’re going towards instead of what you’re moving away from. The reason for this is that when we are motivated by something we want to eliminate – as soon as it’s eliminated, we are no longer motivated.
Well, I lost the weight – so I’m done now, right? No – that’s what creates yo-yo dieting. When we’re no longer feeling the pain of what we’re trying to eliminate – we tend to slide back to the old behaviors.
If you’re moving towards your healthy, strong, sexy, beautiful, energized body – then you will easily be motivated to continue the behaviors that create that body. So make a goal that is focused on what you want, and what you are committing to create – not what you want to eliminate or avoid.
When I first become committed to losing the weight – I was coming out of a very long-term and debilitating illness and was still limited in what I could do physically. I had tried several times to start an exercise program and it would cause a relapse. Until I discovered T-Tapp. With T-Tapp I was able to rehabilitate without relapsing and I absolutely adore this exercise program. The rehab DVD that I use are really good if you’re significantly overweight, have injuries such as knee, hip or neck issues or have long-term illnesses, as I did.
There are other, more intense workouts that are also highly effective.
It is really, really effective for people who want a quick, low-impact and at-home workout – with no equipment necessary. It has given me pretty sexy abs too!
Check out T-Tapp here: http://tinyurl.com/npaxr6
The other exercise thing I’ve done is join walking meetups (http://meetup.com). This solves a few issues – the isolation of working from home, the motivation of having other people expecting you, and getting out into beautiful nature. But I couldn’t have been fit enough to do this had I not rehabbed first using T-Tapp.
With regard to eating – I realized early on in this process that I just wasn’t going to cook for myself – it’s not what I want to spend my time and energy on. So, I tried several of the eating plans that provide food – and I landed on Nutrisystems. I’m lactose intolerant and they don’t insist on adding milk to EVERYTHING – (Jenny Craig does). The food is mostly in the fine category (not gourmet, but not McD’s either) and most of the meals are wonderfully spicy and flavorful.
The most important thing I’ve found is to eat something every 3-4 hours. And Nutrisystem is built to support that.
Recently, I’ve added an energy drink – efusjon to my program. This acai berry flavored, all natural soda gives me tons of energy without tons of calories. It contains lots of anti-oxidant fruits including Acai, blueberry and chokeberry. And it also provides a way to create an additional stream of income. If you want more info about that – give me a call 925-349-9360 – or go to my website https://www.myefusjon.com/coachdebra

Wow Debra thanks so much for that detailed info!
I so appreciate the motivation advice. I have actually lost 30lbs THREE times before in my life and this is the biggest amount I need to lose. The other three times 30lbs was my limit but now I’ve gone up 45lbs and that’s getting too scary. I did exactly what you said, got comfortable after it was gone and got back into my old ways of eating and not really eating right.
So now my goal is not only to get healthy, fit and sexy but to stay that way! (though my bf still says I’m sexy to me I want to feel awesome about the body I’m in)
Hi Angela!
I was just about to email you about working together on a strategy for putting together an affiliate program for my new ebook. It’s finally time for affiliates– yaay!
Guess what my ebook is on– easy cleansing for weight loss and energy! How funny the timing of things! I LOVED your video! Kudos to getting in shape and living in a body you love!
Having lost over 65lbs myself and finally keeping it off, I decided to write an ebook about what they key was to my success. (I struggled for about 10 years with it.)
So, I’m wondering if any WAHMers out there are interested in doing a group coaching thing with me on the food aspect of weight loss? I thought about putting together a program like this, but wondered if there was interest.
I have found that we can exercise till the cows come home, but we don’t lose weight until we change the way we eat. And so I’ve also compiled a simple, fast, weight loss cookbook for people on the go to accompany any exercise program or help jump start the weight loss. It’s my favorite fast recipes that I’ve gathered from all over that help me stay thin.
Would anyone be interested in this? We could do it together over facebook. I think it could be really fun!
xoxo Kate
Hi Kate,
Actually the program does also get into foods but the main focus of the videos is the strength training and the cardio I think. There was a yummy looking stuffed pepper recipe for today.
That is a funny coincidence and thanks for your comments on my video.
It seems like there is a really big interest in this just from all the comments myself and Nicole are getting. Also, the issue of keeping fit while working from home isn’t just a few people so I’m sure you’d get some interest in people who do want to get more help with the food part as well. I know it’s so important to eat right too and I find once I switch my mindset it’s easy but if I don’t keep the mindset the food part goes down, down.
Thanks so much for the comment and let’s talk soon! Looking forward to hearing from you and getting your consult form
I am with you on the weight loss! I am not brave enough for photos and numbers, maybe an after picture. I am really excited about all the buzz that has been generated. With accountability and support it is so much easier to keep up with the goals! And soon we will all be saying “bye bye computer butt”!!!

Glad to have you on board Judi.. this is too cool
Ha! I am dying of laughter that I said that you were that big. You are NOT that big!! That is why overtired mamas should not comment on other people’s blogs!! LOL

.. or else we all thought I had a heckler, lol.
Angela,
I’m so proud of you for going for it with Scott’s program. I’ll be doing it next month since I already have my challenge going for Sept. I am looking forward to watching your progress and if you need any healthy eating tips or anything else, you know where to find me.
Angie (Losing It and Loving It)´s last blog ..September Challenge and Goals
Thanks so much Angie! Day 3 today and so far so good. No weight loss though but I’m more concentrated on getting fit then obsessing about how many pounds I lose (though I really expect that to come along with it too).
It’s so cool to see so many friends doing the same thing though. I saw lots of people I know over on the members forum at Fat Loss Quickie.
You, my dear, are BRAVE for posting that stretched out picture of yourself. You certainly just went up a notch in my book.
Huge congrats on jumping into the Fat Loss Quickie Challenge and I can’t wait to hear about your results!
Just wait to see what I’ll be doing next month. This is just the beginning. lol.
Thanks Nicole! I’m excited to be in this with you and can’t wait to hear your results either, and what you’ve got up your sleeve for next month already.
Angela, that’s so funny – I’ve often thought there should be a weight loss for internet marketers group out there.
I’m in. I need to lose computer weight too.
Christie, I laughed my ass off. You should have stood by your first statement. Too cute.

woohoo! Glad to hear you’re in Christine! Be sure to check back here, post your comments along with me and link back to your blog posts if you’ll be blogging on it.
Angela,
This is an awesome idea. I am a work from homer who is in fairly good shape and know that it can be a real challenge to get my workouts in. And trust me, I love working out.
Stay sensible with your diet and perform moderate exercise. Those are the 2 things which have enabled me to keep slim for the long-term, because in most cases, life is long term
I wish you the best

Thanks for the comment Ryan! Yes I just kinda really jumped into the program because my friend Nicole Dean was trying it. I’ve been wanting to get in shape and up until now my only real plan was eating right and walking.
I’m starting to really love the workouts, though, after only 5 days!
Hi Angela!
It’s funny how many work at homers are on the weight loss kick! You, Nicole Dean, Tiffany Dow, and yes, even me!
I started with Weight Watchers, but now you guys have me curious about the “Quickie” – so I’ll be visiting! I guess we need a Twitter topic for our weight loss support group!
Here’s to a lot less of the work at home bloggers! (not less bloggers, just less of the bloggers!) lol.
Stefani Padilla´s last blog ..Losing Weight – Week One
Thanks for the comment Stefani! Yes we will be a bunch of light as a feather bloggers
Good luck with Weight Watchers! I imagine the quickie exercises could be done along with that and also the support could help you too. Scott is starting weekly accountability calls which I’m really looking forward to.
You are brave, very very brave! You go girl you can do it!
I’ve joined too and I’m only doing the cardio portion right now until I get the ball. It’ll work you all on it’s own that’s for sure.
For those who don’t see the point bc they don’t think they can do the “moves” – trust me I’m CLUMSY and still try. If I can’t do them I do the best I can and then substitute dancing or something else I can do for the rest of the time.
Keep up the great work!
