Hey!
I came across the song Seize the Day years ago now and for me it’s a motivational and inspiring song. Hope you like it and I hope my Canadian friends have a great Thanksgiving weekend!
Couldn’t find my pick so I strummed with my fingernail – not really the best way to do that so I hope the sound comes out ok on your end.
Here’s the Lyrics if you want to sing along
I know a girl who was schooled in Manhattan
She reads dusty books and learns phrases in Latin
She is an author, or maybe a poet
A genius but it’s just this world doesn’t know it
She works on her novel most every day
If you laugh she will say
chorus:
Seize the day, seize whatever you can
‘Cause life slips away just like hourglass sand
Seize the day, pray for grace from God’s hand
Then nothing will stand in your way
Seize the day
Well I know a doctor, a fine young physician
Left his six-figure job for a mission position
He’s healing the sick in an African clinic
He works in the dirt and writes home to the cynics
He says “We work through the night so most every day
As we watch the sun rise we can say
chorus
Well I know a man who’s been doing some thinking
He’s as bitter and cold as the whiskey he’s drinking
He’s talking ’bout fear, about chances not taken
If you listen to him you can hear his heart breaking
He says “One day you’re a boy and the next day you’re dead
I wish way back when someone had said
chorus
Well one thing I’ve noticed, wherever I wander
Everyone’s got a dream he can follow or squander
You can do what you will with the days you are given
I’m trying to spend mine on the business of living
So I’m singing my songs off of any old stage
You can laugh if you want, I’ll still say
chorus

UPDATE! I did some searching to make sure I added a copyright to the song lyrics and found Carolyn Arends website here: Carolyn Arends – check it out if you like the song, k? Also noticed that Carolyn is another Canadian – coolness!

Thanks for the comment Steph! I was so worried I'd scare everyone away but I'm glad you're still here

OMG Angela, I can't believe this. LOL I just posted a tiny little clip of me singing… but the post is the meat of the blog update.
You were great. I can't wait until I can play as good as you. Course, I need a new guitar for that, since my kids broke mine.
Good for you for doing this! I really enjoyed it.
Nell
Oh and by the way, what kind of guitar is that?
Nell
Nell, wow! We are so on the same wavelength it's getting freaky, lol.
Thanks so much for the comment. I love playing guitar and singing. Started when I was 19 and played for about 6 years, put it down for about 7 and now I'm feelin it again!
It's a Yamaha FG400-A. I have no idea if you can still buy them. My dad actually bought it at an auction when I was 19 (when I decided to claim it). This old guitar and I have been through a lot!
Beautiful sound on that one you want. I need to find a good one for 100-200… HA! I don't know if it's possible.
Nell
We are. It's kinda freaky. LOL

Here's a song I'd like to share with you (sorry, no singing oncam for me, LOL!):
The Climb lyrics
Songwriters: Alexander, J; Mabe, J;
I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
“You'll never reach it”
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on
'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!
Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

Darnit, I thought I'd be hearing you sing on cam lol! Thanks Lexi, love that song. I also like how you put the (c) — I'll have to track down one for the song lyrics I posted and make sure I give credit too.
I'm going to learn this song, I LOVE The Climb.
A salute from Kelly Mccausey is nothing to sneeze at! Thanks my friend.
Good for you Angela – doing what you love and what gives you joy! I took lessons as a child (Classical guitar) and use to play Sunday's at folk Mass. I also had a gr. school teacher who got me hooked on east coast songs. You're an east coaster – do you know the song “Farewell to Nova Scotia?” I still remember it and it was a fun song to sing and play with others. Thanks for the fun post

Very awesome! I just found this. Very inspiring.
Glad you liked it Heather! Guess I'm going to have to pull out my guitar again some time.. I really want to do some kind of internet marketing/guru parody but I'm just building up the nerve to do so, lol.
