Interview with a Blogger – The Crunchy Coach

This summer, I got an email from Emily Jacques. Emily had taken my mini-course at BlogSiteMojo.com and emailed me with a question.
I love it when I get questions!
Of course I emailed Emily back and we got to chatting. Emily is new to blogging and is already seeing some results. So I asked her if I could interview her for the blog here at Marketers Mojo.
You see, often you hear from people who’ve had HUGE successes and been doing this for years but I know a lot of people are just starting out and they want to hear from others like them.
Emily may be just like you. She’s got a great story and a really great blog. I love how Emily blogs in a conversation style and she’s just real. You’ll definitely want to check her out at TheCrunchyCoach.com/Blog
And here is the interview. Hope you enjoy it!
Angela: “Emily, Can you tell us about your business and how long you’ve been on the internet?”
Emily: “I first got online in April 2009, with a passion to teach others how to live a more natural and sustainable lifestyle, thus improving their health and the health of the planet.”
Angela: “How did you create your first website?”
Emily: “I began with Site Build It!, which is a great way to build a website if you know nothing about web design and SEO, and all you want is a static website. SBI! provides all the tools a newbie needs to build a site that will eventually be seen by the search engines.”
Angela: “Why did you choose to add a wordpress blog to your website?”
Emily: “The best I can explain it is that I had an inner urge to start blogging. In addition, I’d read in numerous places (including one of your sites!) that WordPress blogging helps to increase traffic.
I actually ended up leaving SBI! because their set-up doesn’t allow for a blog to be installed directly to their servers. I would have had to pay for my SBI! site as well as for another webhosting company that could provide me with a blog.
So I ended up going with a regular webhosting company, re-uploaded my website, and installed a WordPress blog.
Within a couple weeks of posting, my daily traffic had increased over what it had been after a couple of months with SBI!.”
Angela: “What kind of results have you had with article marketing?”
Emily: “I believe I’ve received even more traffic from the articles I have posted on various directories than from the Search Engines. But between WP and article marketing, traffic to my site grew much more quickly than it did than when it was just a static site waiting for the SE’s to find it.”
Angela: “I love the name the Crunchy Coach, how did you come up with that?”
Emily: “If lifecoaching had been a career when I graduated from high school, I may have chosen that over teaching elementary school. As it is, a few months ago I realized that I had a burning desire to help people improve their health and general well-being. So I stepped into the world of wellness coaching. As I can only personally coach a couple people at a time because I stay at home with my son, I decided to start a website so I would be able to reach a lot more people.
Since “crunchy” is a term used to describe those of us who are into natural health and green living, and since the focus of my site relates to those topics, “The Crunchy Coach” was born.”
Angela: “What is your plan for getting traffic to your website and blog?”
Emily: “I will continue to post relevant content, and plan to turn one post per week into an article that I will submit to an article directory. (Think of it: one article every week equals 52 articles by the end of a year!)
In a couple of months, I will also be submitting my blog to a handful of reputable blog directories. I also plan to do some guest-blogging within the next few months.
At the moment, I am on Twitter (crunchycoach) and Facebook (Emily Jacques). I will eventually look into a few other social media sites as a way to increase traffic to my site, but right now, my hands are full with my blog and a three-year-old boy who never stops moving!”
END INTERVIEW
I love how Emily has just jumped right in and wasn’t afraid to make changes when the original choices she made no longer suited her!
