Afraid of Selling Online? Here’s 5 Reasons Why You Should

woman-moneyOver the years I’ve had a number of businesses and I was always very aware of not wanting to be a ‘pushy salesperson’. There were some businesses I entered into where I was taught to use pushy methods and I never like it.

BUT

If you’re in business you’ve got to sell.

In doing a lot of personal development over the past year I’ve come to the realization, at least for myself, that not wanting to sell comes a lot from wanting to be liked.

What I mean is I was afraid if I pushed too hard to sell the people on my list, reading my blog and buying my products would think I’m a jerk and they wouldn’t like me. So, I was always careful not to push too hard.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not recommending or suggesting you or I become an in your face type of internet marketer – not at all. But it is time to stop worrying so much about if you can make everyone happy and start worrying about building a business that let’s you live an amazing life – and that means one way or another you’ve got to sell something!

Here’s 5 Reasons Why You Should Sell:

1. People Buy – If you’re not selling they won’t buy from you!
2. People Trust – Most people look for a recommendation from someone before they buy a product. If you’re not making affiliate offers or selling a product they’re going to someone else.
3. You Need Money – Working for free gets old eventually, especially when you need to pay your bills.
4. Not Everyone Will Love You – It doesn’t matter what you do or how much free stuff you give away, people will still complain even if you never sell them a thing!
5. You’re in Business – If you really can’t sell ANYTHING then you need to rethink this ‘business’ thing. If you want to do it for fun, then do it for fun but don’t expect to see a profit if you can’t make offers.

One thing you need to remember is selling isn’t WRONG if you are matching up the right customers with the right products. I know there are people on my list ready to buy a product right now and they would like expert advice and input as to whether they are making a smart purchase. It’s just good business to position yourself as the person to make those suggestions and offers.
