I love it when I get to introduce people to new concepts in internet marketing that they’ve never heard of before.
Today I was talking with a new friend about her website which is for local massage therapy. After finding out what I do she asked me for some advice on how to get found more through her website and put it to good use.
Love getting that question in that ‘offline’ world!
How Do You Market a Local Business on The Internet?
So I made some suggestions. Including adding her website to Google’s Local Search Listings, doing some on-site SEO and getting some inbound links to her website.
Here was my reply:
Local Business Search:
Google.com/LocalBusinessCenter
You can submit your site there for free
Keyword Search:
http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
That’s a keyword research tool – you can use it to search terms like “massage” or “massage therapy” to get an idea of what people might type in to find your website. Work from what you think they might type and then put it in. Then use those words on your website.
On Page Search Engine Optimization
Good places to have your keywords are:
- In the top blue bar which is called the ‘title’
- In your main heading
- In the text, naturally
Getting Incoming Links:
- EzineArticles.com is one ‘article directory’ where you can submit your articles for free and get a link back to your website.
- Search blogs on your topic in Google and place a few comments
- Get some podcast interviews by searching your topic, finding podcasts and emailing them to see if they’d like to have you as a guest.
