Interview With Elizabeth Ashe of Internet Marketing Strategies Diva

I recently had the opportunity to interview Elizabeth Ashe about hot to get targeted traffic to your website using Search Engine Optimization and a good linking strategy.

Angela: Hi Elizabeth, please let my readers know a bit about your business and why you do what you do?
Elizabeth: I am the founder and owner of internet marketing strategy diva, for about the past four years I have been helping people learn internet marketing and how to use methods such as search engine optimization and internet marketing skill to increase traffic to their sites. But overall mainly showing them how to build a business from the ground up and take it seriously because online business takes time and patience and many don’t succeed overnight. learning
Angela: For those who are beginners, can you explain what SEO is?
Elizabeth: Search engine optimization mainly in my words is being able to use the search engines to your benefit the way the engines want you to play it. I think of it as sort of game, a game that has to played slowly and thoughtfully. It takes patience and some maneuvering things around a bit with a lot of hands on activity, to get traffic to your site - sort of like monopoly. A more technical term is using the search engines to get traffic to your site by way of great content, html skill, and social networking and much more.
Angela: How did you first learn SEO?
Elizabeth: When I first learned about search engine optimization was in 2002 when I went to a conference that was supposed to help business owners who wanted to start a business online learn about websites and how to market. I thought the seminar was going to discuss where to get a site made and how to get it completed quickly. I had no idea that the conference was going to give a brief introduction as to what seo was and why it was so beneficial. Seo was discussed in great detail and at the end they offered a whole package deal of almost 3,000 dollars to get your website up and to host and help you search engine optimization the natural organic way. That was way more money then I was willing to spend in fact I did not even have 3,000 dollars.
I had decided ok all I need is a site some info and some seo skills to get this thing going. I invested in a small online html class, I joined a women’s marketing forum and spent a lot time online learning seo myself and asking questions and reading books.
Search engine optimization is something that is easily learned and constantly changing, however if you remember to always give good content on your site that Is relevant to what you site is about then you will do well.
Angela: What’s the difference between SEO & SEM?
Elizabeth: Search engine optimization is process of using html, and content to increase your rank in the search engines the natural organic way. It is sort of like growing up and this could time. In order to have good bones you need to have proper nutrition and on a constant basis through out your life. With seo you need to always tweak your html from time to time this includes keeping good content with great keywords, develop relevant links coming to your site and using natural traffic building tips to increase your rank. Search engine marketing is the ability to get high rankings rather quickly by using things such as paid inclusion or paid advertising methods. Both can be pretty effective especially if you have a new site and looking to see traffic right away. Some examples include pay per click, paid sponsorship, paid linking, paid banners etc…….. This is not the natural normal way of getting rankings it is the quick more costly way of doing it. But both of them bring results.
Angela: Would you say it’s essential for someone with an internet marketing business to understand and use search engine optimization?
Elizabeth: Anyone that has a internet marketing business needs to have at least a little knowledge of seo. You can’t call yourself a internet marketer unless you have some knowledge of what search engine marketing is. You can’t make money unless you have sort of business savvy and online internet marketers need to have business savvy and a way of building a relationship with their followers. However there have been many that have been able to use joint ventures opportunities to get a large amount of traffic In a short amount of time, but this still comes down to knowing a little about social networking.
Angela: What are keywords and how can they help someone get website traffic?
Elizabeth: Keywords are the blood of your site. This is what keeps the site alive and keeps traffic coming to your site. For example a site about cleaning dogs will have keywords like dog shampoo, dog brushes and dog bathing tools throughout the content of their site. When I say content I mean headers, articles, categories on blogs and sites. Search engines use spiders to crawl the world wide web and they look for content that is relevant to what someone is searching for. When some searches for dog shampoo and you have the keyword In your content along with links coming to your site with similar content. You are showing the search engines that you have relevant content to what that person is searching for and they send them to you.
Angela: How would you suggest someone get started with search engine optimization?
Elizabeth: I don’t think anyone should pay an seo company to do seo for them, it is way to expensive and can be completed yourself. Fist I would take a look at what type of site you are you are trying to build. Look for keywords and use that for your domain name that is catchy. Continue to build pages around your site that has excellent content about whatever you write about so people will want to link to it. This gives you free links to your site and raises your ranks. Use a good html editor to include keywords in to your sites html codes. If you have a blog using word press I recommend the plug-in all in on seo and keep on providing great content.
Angela: Can you tell us the importance of links to SEO?.
Elizabeth: Links are very important in search engine optimization this is what gives you page rank, the more you have with excellent content. Not just any link, remember to keep relevant links since this is also how people find your site.
Angela: What is a website directory?
Elizabeth: A directory is basically a list of sites on the same topic that someone can visit to find sites they are looking for rather quickly. Many engines value links coming from directories and this is also a way to get links to your site.
Angela: What other strategies do you recommend for pulling traffic to a website?
Elizabeth: Use social networking such as face book and twitter, this great platform to start with and visit forums that are related to your topic and start asking questions and get to know people. If you use face book start a group once you get in there to keep in contact on a regular basis with people that share the same interest as you.
