How Do You Beat Winter Blahhhhhs (Giveaway)
Every year about this time I’m SICK and TIRED of winter. While getting away to a nice sunny location and taking a vacation is a good option I’m not going anywhere this year.
So I want your ideas.
Do you get winter blahhhhs??
How do you beat them???
One of my favorite ways to beat the winter blahs is to talk with new people and learn new things. I LOVE meeting new people whether it be online or offline. At the end of the month I’m going to go to Podcamp Toronto to meet people and in early March I’ll be speaking at the Indie Biz Chicks The Winter Biz Sessions.
Tell me how you beat winter blahs below and I’ll choose one commenter to receive a free ticket to the The Winter Biz Sessions!
Let me hear your thoughts! ok?
Update Feb.8 I randomly chosen someone to give the ticket to and it’s Lisa Marie Mary of LisaMarieMary.com. Thank you for all your comments! Of course, if you’ve got any other beating blahhhs ideas or comments feel free to keep on commentin’

My husband recently changed out the overhead light in my office and that sucker can get BRIGHT!! It’s on a dial-y thing so you can set it where you want it. (What are they called?) Anyway, I’ve noticed lately that on blah, cloudy days if I’ll turn that sucker all the way ON – it actually helps me! Funny, huh?
I have always wanted to try one of those ‘winter light’ things for Seasonal Affective Disorder – guess I have a homemade one!

Thanks for your comment Lisa Marie Mary!
I did a random pick (LITERALLY – I did eeny-meeny-miny-mo, lol!) and you came out as the winner of the ticket. I’ll send Crissy over your info and she’ll get you access.
Love the idea of the bright lights – it’s so important for the winter when it can get so dark and dreary. I’ve heard that those therapy lights can be great too so it’s handy you’ve got your own homemade one.
Thank you so much, Angela!! I really appreciate it!
I moved to California!

Nice Debra! That will certainly beat them.
For me, my favourite way to beat the winter blahs is learn a new skill. This January I took out a subscription to Lynda.com to brush up on some software training, and I purchased Kelly & Lynette’s Blog Evangelist program. Now I look forward to all those days that are just too cold to go out.
I’ve heard so many great things about Lynda.com but I’ve never taken it. Great idea to learn a new skill!
February, by far, is the most difficult month the navigate, especially when you live in the Midwest. By now the winter starts to feel like it will never end. And, we also tend to experience some of the coldest weather. To make the best of it, I usually start thinking about gardening and what I’m going to plant in the spring and summer. I’ll start growing some vegetable and flower seedlings inside in March/April and hopefully they’ll be ready to plant as soon as there’s no chance of frost. Spring is a time of growth and renewal — so that’s where I want to set my sights!
Kind Regards,
Tara

Thank you for your comment Tara! Yes thinking about being out in the sun in the garden is definitely warm thinking. Glad you have a way to beat the blahhhhs.
My way of beating winter blahhs is terribly simple: I buy small 4″ pots of spring flowers, and pack them in my windows. Hyacinths, mini-daffodils, muscari, crocus… I mix and match.
I find nothing brightens my day more than these beautiful flowers, with their promise of spring.
