Holding your own online class is a great way to profit from the skills you have and the information that you already know. Sharing this information with others can be a fun and profitable addition to your existing business. Here is a quick-start guide:
Decide What To Teach
The first step to holding your own online class is to decide what to teach. If nothing pops into your head right away, take out a piece of paper and write down the things that you are good at.
This could be anything from finding great bargains to writing great sales copy. Go ahead and list the skills that others have complimented you on or told you that they wish they had.
Next, take a look at what you have listed. You can find out what people are most interested in learning by posting on Twitter, Facebook or a forum that you frequent. You don’t have to tell anyone that you are thinking about creating a class. All you have to do is list the subjects and let them tell you what they are most interested in learning.
Decide On A Format
When you create your own class, you can decide how to deliver the materials in whatever way works best for you. If you are outgoing, you may like the idea of speaking in front of your students in a web room or on a conference line. If you are shy, you may prefer to create written guides, audios, or videos and have your students email you their questions or post them in a private forum.
This method would also work well for those with small children, as it would allow you to work while your children are asleep.
Create Your Materials
The next step is to create your materials. Thankfully, there are many free and low cost tools available. DimDim offers free web conference rooms for up to 10 attendees, Audacity is a free tool that you can use to create audio, and CamStudio allows you to create free screen recordings.
Start Enrolling Students!
Now that you know what you are going to teach, have created your materials and know how you will deliver them, it’s time to start enrolling students.
A shopping cart will be the best option, but if you do not have one, you can create buttons in Paypal that will allow people to purchase your class.
Creating your own online class can be a fun and creative process, as well as a great way to attract new customers and grow your business. Start thinking about the topics you would like to teach. What sounds best to you?
