I wrote this one back in June, and forgot to publish it!…
What essential tools do you need as an online business owner? My list and descriptions are below!
I’m writing to you from the airport and as I sit here killing some time I thought you’d like to hear what I’ve packed onto my Netbook for working on the go. I don’t only use my netbook for travel. I often take it to the local coffee shop or the library for a change of scenery.
Adobe Reader – Of course! Reading ebooks and other pdf downloads comes when the territory when you work online.
Audacity – Works great for creating and editing audio.
AI Roboform – Roboform is like nothing else for saving passwords, filling forms and working online.
AVG Free – Free antivirus program.
Camtasia – I can record screencasts and edit videos with this program. I use this alot for my >coaching programs and to create youtube videos.
Dropbox – Another free program that allows me to access my files from any computer with internet access. Very handy since I like to work on my netbook and my desktop computer.
Feeddemon – Reading and commenting on blog posts is something I like to do to keep connected and build links back to my site. This program is free too!
Filezilla – FTP program to upload files to my website for updates, etc.
Gimp – I create graphics for my site and marketing with Gimp, another free program.
Goodsync – Goodsync works with Roboform to sync my passwords up across all computers I use it on.
Itunes – Great for downloading podcasts!
Firefox – My internet browser of choice
NVU – Do you see a pattern of free programs here? NVU is another free program that you can use to build html web pages. Sometimes useful.
Open Office – Wordprocessing software very similar to Microsoft Office but guess what? – it’s free!
SnagIt – See the little screenshot of my programs up above? I used SnagIt to create that. It allows me to take shots of anything on my computer screen and edit it.
What programs do you have on your computer you consider essential? Post your comment below!
