So here’s where I need to tell you enough about me that you’ll be comfortable taking my marketing advice yet not too much that I bore you to pieces!
How about we start with a picture.
That’s me on the right with my laptop. That computer means a lot to make as it’s how I make my full-time living. I don’t even own a desktop at the moment and it’s working out just fine. I can pick up and work from anywhere: a coffee shop, a library, a friend’s house or under a tree. That’s the lifestyle I’ve worked hard to create and I’m very proud of the freedom it allows.
I really love what I do. And what it is that I do? Sure, let’s get to that. I teach small business owners how to use the internet to sell their products and services. It’s so important to me that my customers and clients get results. That’s why I teach how to use the tools to build a business online.
You can see examples of the kinds of things I teach by clicking on the ‘Shop Mojo‘ tab up top. The majority of my attention goes to my Website Design Mojo course. It’s had close to 200 people through the doors since starting in the summer of 2010. I love teaching people how to build websites to steer their future!
My software of choice to build and teach websites is WordPress. Here’s a pic of me and a colleague at WordCamp Toronto:
Really I like to put myself out there as a guide, a person with experience that you can come to and ask questions and get real feedback from. I don’t ever intend to be an unreachable force or ‘internet famous’. My aim is to make a great living for me and my family while helping others make an impact in this world.
I feel extremely fortunate to be able to do that!
Some random business and personal facts:
- Sold rocks at about age 3 to neighbors & made about $2.
- Am a Newfie (means I’m from Newfoundland, Canada, yes by!)
- Built my first website in 1999 for fun while in college for Chemical Engineering.
- Love Chocolate.
- Quit my crummy factory-job in May 2007 to work full-time for myself.
- Have a son who’s awesome.
- I started this website in 2008 and have written over 500 posts right here.
- I’m an Aquarius.
- Started my business for the freedom to stay home with my son as a single mom.
- I’ve been known to play guitar and sing on occasion.
So that’s a bit about me. How about you? Who are you? Let me flip it around a little and tell you the people who find my website, services and products the most helpful:
You’re a business owner who’s passionate about helping others. You have a real business idea and not something just to ‘make money online’ with. You’re willing to put in the work it takes to make it, for the long haul. You’re very practical about the fact that a business worth having takes real work and real effort and you’re a-ok with that. You’re a smart cookie and you’re ready to move forward in your business. You also know that no one builds a business in a bubble and that’s why you’re here!
