Archive for video marketing

I just got this email in my inbox from my friend Michelle Schoen of VADemoGirl.com.

You might have noticed that I’ve REALLY gotten back into video lately. I just love video, I love how it helps me create content fast, how I can connect in another medium that just takes it to a new level and sometimes I even like to see myself on Camera, haha.

Anyway, Camtasia is the program I use for ALL my screenshot videos and so I’ve already reserved my spot on the call.

Here’s the email I just got from Michelle and Lon:

Video Marketing Goof Up

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

So I’ve been playing with my new Insignia HD Video Camera that my boyfriend got me for Christmas.

I don’t know what I was thinking but I decided to turn the camera sideways…. well guess what I got?

Yep, a sideways video, LOL. I thought I’d share for fun (only 16 seconds) and also to see if anyone knows how to flip a video that’s on it’s side? Is that even possible?

The actual video is about 6 minutes but I figure there’s no point it making you tilt your head sideways for that long!

I’ve been really enjoying watching the video tests over at Lynn Terry’s Internet Marketing Blog. It looks as though she is using the same camera as me.

Lynn also mentioned another video camera goof that I also did when I first got the camera – forgot to take the plastic protector off the lense!

YouTube Offers Pay Per Click Videos

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

So I don’t usually do Marketing News TWICE in one day but this news is pretty huge so I wanted to make sure I shared it with you.

This is exciting! Google now offers a pay per click program where you pay once someone clicks on your Sponsored Video. Looks very similar to Google Adwords. Now is the time to jump on this and take advantage of a completely open market.

Here is a link to the YouTube Ads page.

Traffic Geyser Case Study – Day 3

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Customer Service Report:

I haven’t yet spent much time discussing the customer service at Traffic Geyser. I have to say it is absolutely top notch customer support and service. Here is what I see that’s very good from a new customer viewpoint:

Training Materials – I think absolutely no one should have any excuse for not understanding how Traffic Geyser works. They lay out the step-by-step process to using the entire program and make it very easy to understand. This is rare and quality training.

Members Forum – I posted about the issue I was having with my video uploads being pending and someone had replied in the forum by early the next day. They also reminded me that if I was still having problems to submit a support ticket.

Support Tickets – I haven’t used this yet but they do have a support ticket service.

One-on-One Training – You can order one-on-one training if you need a little more guidance to get started.

Webinars – Today I attended a free webinar training session and it was fantastic. They could easily be charging for this information and they give this great stuff away for free to Traffic Geyser members.

Emails – Now I’m finding the emails incoming to be a bit much because I am really trying to cut down on all non-directly related to business email I get. I can’t really complain about the emails though because they are all completely on topic to using Traffic Geyser and I even got one the other day with an interview Frank Sousa did with a guy who is on track to make a 7-figure income with the program over the next year or so!

NO phone support – While it’s true they don’t have phone support, they’ve really covered all the other bases so well I think there is no need for it. I call support for some programs I use a LOT – but that’s because they do a terrible job of providing the materials I need to find the answer quickly on their website.

Search Engine Report:

I’m excited to report back some more top Google Rankings for my video!

Here’s a summary of the first two videos I’ve submitted using Traffic Geyser:

keyword phrase: how to start your own affiliate program
time listed: less than 24 hours (approx 10 hours)
google position with quotes: #4 & 5
google position without quotes: #13

keyword phrase: affiliate manager software
time listed: less than 24 hours (approx 6-8 hours)
google position with quotes: positions #3, 4, 7 & 9 of 5,960 results!
google position without quotes: #13 of 576,000 results

What Does This All Mean?

Getting my videos ranked at the top of the search engines is all well and good but does that mean I will make more money? This is something I can’t tell you right now because I’ll just have to wait and see what the results are.

It will be more difficult to track because a lot of the video sites don’t give a direct link to my website. So in this case a lot of people will have to TYPE in my domain which I won’t be able to track using regular website statistics programs.

The video I did yesterday was only 1 of 10 I plan on doing with the top Frequently Asked Questions on starting and running an affiliate program. I really believe that just doing this videos and having them available on my website is going to help increase sales because people really get to see my personality and can begin to know, like and trust that I am someone they can do business with.

Having top search engine rankings and being very relevant to what people are searching for seems like a no-lose position to me! However, I will report back again when I have had some time to tell what happens as a result of these videos.

Traffic Geyser Case Study Day 2

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Yesterday I submitted my first video using Traffic Geyser, if you haven’t checked out that post yet, click here.

Here’s the video I submitted:

YouTube Preview Image

Today I checked my Traffic Geyser account and found that my videos had been submitted, yay! When I checked yesterday the videos were pending after a few hours so I was wondering what was going on. Looks like there was a little technical glitch (that they were very quickly working on)  and most of the sites had my video uploaded and completed:

Next, I checked to see if my video is showing up for the keywords I chose: ‘how to start your own affiliate program‘. Here are the results (with quotations):

Out of 14,700 results my videos are #5 and #6, beating out my StarVA.com results for the same keyword!

That’s pretty awesome results for less than one day.

It’s important to note that I did this search in quotes, most people won’t search in quotes. When you do the search without quotes my two same videos are on page #2 at positions #11 and #12 out of over 340,000 results – still great stuff!

Another Video Submitted:

I also got the chance to record another video today, this one had the keywords ‘affiliate manager software’ and in the video I talked about how to choose an affiliate manager software program when you are starting your own affiliate program.

Time Submitted: 11:38pm
Current Status: Completed (on a large number of videos)

I’ll check in on this video in my day 3 tomorrow.

Some Concerns:

One of my concerns about using Traffic Geyser is that I didn’t really read the teams of service on the 50 or so sites it submits too and I’m a little worried that I’m not following those terms. I certainly don’t want to get labeled as a spammer and have my sites banned.

While I check things out I”ll definitely be taking it slowly and making sure I’m putting out high quality content. There are some sites that don’t allow ads and that is something to keep in mind when putting videos together.

Ads on videos – On one of my videos, I noticed some ads that had half-dressed women advertising some kind of dating site. These are not the type of ads or the type of sites I want my website associated with so I will stay away from that site next time.

It might be a good idea to just check out each video site before submitting to make sure it’s a site you want your business to be associated with.

So far I am definitely loving Traffic Geyser. I haven’t even had a chance to tell you about the customer support and email contact, I’ll post on that tomorrow after I’ve had a chance to attend a completely free training session they are offering.

Traffic Geyser Case Study Day 1

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Case Study: Traffic Geyser

Purpose: To get traffic and leads to AffiliateCommotion.com

If you’ve been reading my posts on the Affiliate Incubator seminar you’ll know that I listened to both Frank Sousa and Mike Koenigs, co-owners of Traffic Geyser, speak at the seminar. After listening to Mike talk about how fabulous the program is I decided to try this out for myself and see how quickly I can get top rankings in Google using Traffic Geyser and video.

Over the next few days I’ll be posting the case study as I go along and test out this new program:

Get Website Traffic in Minutes - www.TrafficGeyser.com

I have to say so far I am very impressed with the quality of the training resources available to Traffic Geyser users. I’ve never seen a program that so easily walks it’s user through the program and it’s uses. Very few programs give you such easy to use, step by step instructions on how to best use their program.

Usually I’m one to just jump into using a program but not this time. This time I decided I would really learn the program first to make sure I am using it properly. All the video tutorials available on how to use the program made me very confident in my ability to use this program to the best of it’s ability.

Step #1: Keyword Research

The first step before submitting ANY videos is to do your keyword research. The folks at Traffic Geyser suggested a program called Hexatracker which is a great keyword research program. Other programs I use very often for keyword research are:

Wordtracker Free Keyword Tool
Google Adwords Keyword Tool
SEO Book Free Keyword Tool

I was able to create a process for myself on keyword research to use for submitting videos. The fun thing is that one I have my ‘keyword form’ set up I can use it not only for video but also for blog posts, website pages, articles, videos, and where ever else keywords are important (which is just about everywhere).

Step #2: Sign Up For Video Sites

Now, my next step before I can do any video submissions is to sign up for the 25 video accounts, 14 podcast accounts and various others in order to get the most out of my submissions. This is one of the most time consuming and annoying parts but Traffic Geyser even makes this much easier by offering to sell you a google account that is pre-setup and ready to go.

I decided to set my accounts up myself and used my handy Roboform submission and forms tool. From reading on the forums I heard that it could take about 2-3 hours to set up all the accounts. I set mine up in less than 1 hour using Roboform. So I would definitely recommend Roboform to anyone working on Traffic Geyser for clients because it will save you a ton of time.

Step #3 – Create and Upload Video

I created my video using Camtasia screen recording software. For this first video I basically made a 2 minute video letting people know about the free one hour video I’m giving away on my website at AffiliateCommotion.com.

It was easy to upload the video and store it in an area where you can create specific folders for different projects (which is nice, rather than dumping all the files in one spot).

One thing that’s really neat about Traffic Geyser is that you don’t need to have Camtasia or even a video camera to create video for the internet. The program has a set up where you can put together a series of photos or images and then use their call-in number to record an audio. This all gets put together to create a video that you can then submit to 30+ websites – pretty cool!

Step #4 – Submit Video

So I was a little nervous about sending my video out into cyberspace (though I don’t know why since I have done video before) but it was pretty easy to do.

The first step was to click ‘Submit Media’ and I got the following choices:

I left off the podcasting for now because I just want to get used to using the system.

The next thing I had to do was fill in information about the video, Traffic Geyser made this real easy by offering suggestions as to what should go in most spots:

Step 3 of submissions was to choose the sites I wanted to submit to, pretty easy stuff:

In Step 4 I had to select some categories that different sites required you to enter (no need to show a screen shot of that) and then moving on to Step 5 I pushed the ‘Submit’ button!

That’s it for Day 1 of the Case Study.

I’ll be back to report on Day 2 where my videos ended up and what’s next.
